Beginning with a single inner-city San Diego team in 1996, today Starlings is the largest Junior Volleyball Club in the nation─serving some 3,000 girls in 51 clubs across America. Clubs stretch from New York City to Kauai, from Portland to Phoenix, Arizona. The guiding concept has been to provide an opportunity for girls (ages 10 to18) to participate regardless of their socioeconomic background. Club dues, if any, are a fraction of most Junior Club costs and no girl is turned away because of inability to pay.

The Starlings philosophy is a holistic one: competition is good but sports should also be fun. Finally, an athlete should seek to develop all her talents and for this reason, we proudly promote our annual Literary/Art Contest. 

Since its inception, over 200 girls have received collegiate volleyball scholarships.

05/08/10:

Ladies, we will be having practice next Saturday at Brandeis HS and IT IS MANDATORY!!!

04/07/10:

Ladies, the 16's Tournament will be held at the Downstate Athletic Center. We will meet on 96th and Broadway at 7 AM and will be leaving by 7:15 AM at the latest.

The 18's team will be practicing at Brandeis at our usual time on Saturday and playing at Satellite Sports on Sunday.  

03/31/10:

Congratulations to the 18's team for finishing in 1st place in the Silver Bracket during last weekend's tournament!!! The coaches are extremely proud of how well you all played, finishing with a 5-1 record.

Don't forget that we will be off this upcoming Saturday and to continue checking the website for updates in regards to the next tournaments.

Also, the sweatshirts will be in by our next practice. If you have not paid, it is $30/sweatshirt, and it is by first come first serve basis.

02/26/10:

Ladies, we will be practicing at Brandeis tomorrow. We were able to get the gym accessible to us . But we will not be going to this week's tournament. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Make sure to leave early so you can get to practice on time.

Congratulations to the16's team this past Sunday for their great play and success. The team finished in first place with a 6-1 record in pool play, won 2-0 in the semifinals and lost 1-2 in the finals to finish with an overall record of 9-3. The coaching staff is very proud and we look to keep improving as the season goes on.

Practice will continue this Saturday the 27th. Check back on the website for information on location for the next tournament.

02/17/10:

Ladies, there will be no practice on Saturday, February 20th. The 16's team will be playing their next tournament this Sunday, the 21st, at Center Moriches High School (you can look in the Tournaments page for further information). Contact coach Felix for information of when and where you will meet up.

P.S. Your teammate Gaby Kent came up with a great community service project/fundraising idea for our program. She found a website where we can design a T-shirt/sweater any way we want. The link below is her design:

We can then sell the shirts and either send all the money from the shirts to Haiti or send half to Haiti and the rest towards the National Starlings Tournament

Ladies, we WILL be having practice this upcoming Saturday, February 13th. Due to the weather, please make sure you give yourself extra time to reach the school on time. Spread the word and we look forward to seeing you!!!

01/29/10:

Ladies, the 18's team will be competing this Sunday at Kean University (1000 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083-7131). We will be giving out more information during this Saturday's practice in regards to location and time we will be meeting up at. We do need some parents to help us drive players to the tournament location, so please start to ask them and let us know who can help.

01/05/10:

Ladies, don't forget to bring your report cards and payments, as well as check your email in regards to any information that we may need from you. We need to send the registration information by this Saturday.

 01/04/10:

We hope you ladies enjoyed the holidays, but now it's time to get back to volleyball. We will be having practice at Brandeis this upcoming Saturday, 01/09/10. Please be there by 9:15 AM. We are looking forward to seeing all of you!

12/22/09:

We will not be practicing the following two Saturday's (12/26/09 & 01/02/10), we will be back in action on 01/09/10. Enjoy your holidays with your families and come back ready to practice hard.

12/17/09:

This Saturday (12/19/09) will be our last practice for the 2009 year. Be at Brandeis H.S. no later than 9:15 AM ready to work hard. Email us if you will not be going to practice for whatever reason.

12/01/09:

Do not forget to bring ALL the appropriate paperwork required to join our club. Without it you WILL NOT be able to participate in practice!!!

Come prepared to practice hard and we look forward to seeing you at 9:15 AM sharp at Brandeis High School this upcoming Saturday, December 5th.

Welcome to NYC Starlings Season 2009-2010!
